Assigning and Unassigning Client Shelters

When assigning clients to shelters, they can be manually assigned to a selected shelter, or the system can automatically assign the client to a shelter.

Before you begin

Open the Manage Incidents screen.

About this task

Assigning a client to a shelter ensures that:
  • Clients will have a place to stay and be looked after during an incident.
  • Clients are transported evenly to multiple shelters so that some shelters do not exceed capacity while others can still accommodate more clients.
  • Clients with specific disabilities and mobility aids can be accommodated at an appropriate shelter.

Procedure

  1. On the Clients tab in the Client Management step, click the client you want to assign to a shelter.
    To select multiple clients, hold Ctrl and click the client rows, or press Ctrl + A to select all clients.
  2. Right-click the client row, click Assign Shelter, and do one of the following:
    • Click Auto Assign Shelter.

      This automatically assign the client(s) to the shelter nearest to his or her current location.

    • Click an available shelter to assign to the client.
  3. To unassign a client from a shelter, right-click the client row, click Assign Shelter, and then click Unassign Shelter.
  4. Optional: To view the number of clients who have been assigned to a shelter, click the Shelters tab and review the Current Occupancy column.
