Points on Setting Parameters

For a run to be legal, parameters must be set within the defined minimum and maximum values.

Desirable or Legal Run Types

For a run to be legal, it must fall between the minimum and maximum parameter values set for a legal run type.

If you compare the parameters of legal and illegal run types, the same parameters are listed in both groups except for some minimum and maximum parameter settings.

For example, select Run Types in the Group column. Select a legal run type in the Group Member column and look at Off Time under the Situation column. Minimum and Maximum are listed at the top of the Parameters table. Then, select an illegal run type in the Group Member column. When you click Off Time again, notice that there are no minimum and maximum values listed in the Parameters table.

Parameters with Minimum and Maximum Values for Desirable or Legal Situations

The parameters with minimum and/or maximum values for desirable or legal situations are:

  • Travel Time, Travel Pay, Cumulative Break Pay contain a Maximum value.
  • Miscellaneous Runs contain a Minimum Efficiency%.
  • Off Time, On Time, Start Time, End Time, Pay Time, Piece Break Time, Piece Pay Time, Piece Platform Time, Road Relief, Shift Break Time, Shift Time, Meal Break Time, Spread Time, Work Time contain Minimum and Maximum values.

Undesirable or Illegal Run Types

Undesirable/Illegal run types contain no minimum or maximum parameters. All other parameters listed are the same as those listed for desirable/legal run types.

The parameters for undesirable run types should be set to the same values as the parameters for desirable run types.

If an early run falls outside of the minimum and maximum limits for a desirable early, BlockBuster classifies it as an undesirable early. If a middle run falls outside the minimum and maximum limits for a desirable middle, BlockBuster classifies it as an undesirable middle, and so on.

Use the Occurrence, Cumulative and Worst Case parameters to direct the undesirable run types into becoming desirable run types. If a previously undesirable run falls within the minimum and maximum values for a desirable run then, it becomes a desirable run when you recut. This is because the ranking for desirable run types is higher than the ranking for undesirable run types.
