Schedule States
Definitions of schedule states that may be seen in Schedule Administrator.
A schedule can go through multiple states after it is created. These include a period of time where it will be actively used for scheduling trips and a point when all activity for the schedule is at an end.
You can identify what stage the schedule is at by looking at the state in Schedule Administrator and Schedule Editor.
| State | Description |
|---|---|
| Unknown |
This state identifies schedules that were:
|
| Activating New | This state identifies a new schedule being activated for the
first time. No schedule activity (that is, batch scheduling, single-insert scheduling) can be performed for a schedule in the Activating New phase. |
| Activating | The schedule is in the process of becoming active. Trips
cannot be scheduled to it. The Activating state does not allow scheduling of bookings. The Schedule Server automatically changes a schedule state from Activating to Active when a schedule is completely activated. However, users may also want to manually change a schedule from Active to Activating while they work on setting up runs and then manually set it back to Active when the runs are ready for scheduling. |
| Active | The schedule is ready to allow full scheduling activities for trips. |
| Active Locked | No new bookings can be created but existing bookings can still be scheduled or rescheduled. Bookings cannot be edited. |
| Closed | Closed schedules are used for historical purposes. No new bookings can be created. Bookings cannot be edited. A schedule should be Closed only after the activities for the schedule are completed and the history edit process is completed. The user determines when a schedule is considered closed and manually closes it. When a schedule is closed, it is automatically unloaded. A closed schedule cannot be loaded or modified by the Schedule Server unless the state is changed to something other than Closed. |
