Applying Depth and Effort While Making Incremental Improvements
You can experiment with the levels of depth and effort through selecting different levels while performing automatic runcutting.
- After you make a parameter change that you think will be beneficial when automatically runcutting, click
- In the Cut dialog, click the Quick options in the Depth and Effort frames
- Check the Costing Summary to view the results that are significant to you.
-
Repeat steps 1 and 2.
Keep using the Quick/Quick combination until the significant results in the Cost Summary dialog no longer change, that is, there is no further improvement.
- Click the Normal options in the Depth and Effort frames.
- Check the cost summary.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 until there is no further improvement shown in the results.
- Repeat the strategy with the Extended/ Extended combination and then with Serious Run Cutting/Serious Run Cutting.
You must check and recheck that your parameters are set up correctly. Increasing the strength of depth and effort should not be used as a substitute for less than optimal or correct parameter settings.
When you run a Quick/Quick combination when performing an automatic runcut, BlockBuster uses fewer algorithms compared to when it runs a Normal/Normal combination.
A Normal/Normal combination uses the algorithms that were used in the Quick/Quick combination plus additional ones.
Using an Extended/Extended combination tells BlockBuster to use all the ones it used before plus additional ones.
BlockBuster therefore uses a cumulative approach as you shift to more powerful levels of depth and effort.
