When a passenger-carrying vehicle returns to a previously visited location in the course of a passenger trip.
barrier
- Geographic boundary that obstructs travel. For example, mountains, rivers where crossing is only allowed in certain places, or large plots of land that have no road system.
- Method used in the Trapeze4 Workstation to calculate distance based on routes that go around common barriers.
base station
Fixed-site radio transmitter and receiver for one channel.
batch scheduling
Scheduling method where a group of trips is automatically scheduled by the PASS system.
bid
Trapeze OPS supports different types of bids, including work bids, absence bids, and operational bids.
Also called pick.
bidaround
Skipping an individual employee during a bid and returning to that employee later. Typically used in OPS.
bid category
General grouping applied to bid units. For example, roster, run, absence, or volunteer.
Bid categories are predefined in Trapeze OPS.
bidding
Selection of work assignments by operators from a sign-up sheet. Typically based on seniority.
Also called booking, mark up, pick, or sign-up.
bid unit
Defines the relationship between work, category, and employee types.
Bid units are used to configure bidding and to define which employee types can bid on what work.
black levels
Monitor brightness based on the darkest parts of an image on the screen.
Black levels can affect how colors look. Different monitor manufacturers may call black levels by different names.
block
- Organized series of continuous runs assigned to a vehicle type.
Specific vehicles are assigned to specific blocks on specific days.
- Sequence of route segments detailing the path along a route group that a bus is scheduled to travel from garage pull-out to garage pull-in.
block paddle
Daily itinerary of work for a vehicle.
The block paddle includes pull-in and pull-out times and their garages, all scheduled trips, times, and locations, special notes or comments about relief time and locations, and deadhead times and routes.

booking purpose
Reason for travel. For example, education, medical, or employment. Typically used in PASS.
Booking purpose types are created in Trapeze4 Workstation ancillary data () and typically used in reporting to find out how many trips were provided for a specific reason over a defined period of time.

Garage with an enclosed parking area.
