validation
Verification logic and resulting messages that let users know about missing or incorrect information provided when filling out forms or performing other actions in the system.
Also called checks or checking.
vehicle capacity
Maximum number of passengers a vehicle is designed to accommodate comfortably according to specific loading conditions.
It may be exceeded under crush load conditions.

vehicle control head
vehicle crush capacity
Maximum passenger capacity at which the passenger can enter a vehicle without causing serious discomfort to others.
A widely accepted measure for vehicle crush capacity is the number of all seated passengers when all seats are occupied plus eight passengers per square metre of available standing area.
Also called crush load.
vehicle logic unit
Refers to intelligent black box devices in vehicles that often contain the wireless modem, GPS, telematics capabilities, and integration point for other on-board devices.
vehicle telemetry
Technology that tracks information about a vehicle (for example, location, speed, and diagnostics) and transmits this information back to head office.
vehicle tracking
Ability to see the real-time location of fleet vehicles. This improves operational efficiency.
vehicle transit training (VTT)
Training for an employee to learn how to operate a transit vehicle.
violation
Transgression of, or failure to comply with, a rule or obligation.
In PASS, violations are defined in violation sets and typically involve scheduling. when violations can be ignored by the system, they're called allowable violations.
In OPS, violations typically involve operator assignments and are categorized as warnings (the operator can still be assigned) or errors (the operator can't be assigned).
