About Vehicle Change Outs

Vehicle change outs allow you to assign a different vehicle to part of a block currently in progress.

When you create a vehicle change out, if the change out time is the same as the block’s Actual Start Time or Actual To Time, the system assigns the new vehicle without splitting the block. Otherwise, the system splits the block and sets the first block’s Actual To Time field and second block’s Actual From Time field with the Change Out Time values.

If you create multiple change outs, Trapeze OPS maintains the time sequence of the block. For example, you could create a change out for block A so that A~1 had an Actual From Time of 10∶00 and an Actual To Time of 12∶00 with A~2 having an Actual From Time of 12∶00 and an Actual To Time of 16∶00. You could then create another change out for A~1 with an Actual From Time of 11∶00 and an Actual To Time of 12∶00. You would have three blocks: A~1 (10∶00 to 11∶00), A~2 (11∶00 to 12∶00), and A~3 (12∶00 to 16∶00).

Change outs can only be created for fixed route and extra work blocks. To assign a different vehicle to part of a block that isn't in progress, you must split the block and then assign a new vehicle.

You can also create a maintenance record for the vehicle you are replacing. If Trapeze OPS is integrated with Trapeze EAM, you can create a service request for Trapeze EAM instead of a maintenance record.
Note: Change outs are performed for the date set in the Vehicle Assignment screen Context, not the current system date. This lets you correct past change outs or make change outs for future assignments.
