Sending Text Messages from Dispatch Manager

Text messages can be sent to drivers as needed.

Before you begin

Dispatch Manager must be open.

About this task

Sites must use MDTs and SMS system properties must be set up by a system administrator (found in Tools > System Properties, on the System tab, under Interface > SMS).

Procedure

  1. Right-click on the grid.
    A menu appears.
  2. Select Send SMS Messages.
    The Send SMS messages dialog box appears.

  3. Enter the Phone no information:
    • Type the phone number to be called.
    • Select the phone number from the list.

      This list is populated from Task > Vehicles for the selected vehicle.

  4. In the text box, type a message for the recipient.
    As you type, the Text length counts the number of characters you are entering.
  5. Click Send.
    The message is sent.
  6. Optional: To view previously sent messages, click the arrows beside View previous/next message to scroll through sent messages.
