Split blocks can be reassembled as needed.

You can put adjacent pieces of a split block back together. If the block was split into three pieces, you can't rejoin the first piece to the third. When a block is reassembled, the system checks whether the vehicle assigned to the first piece can be assigned to the reassembled block. If it can't, no vehicle is assigned.

Open the Vehicle Assignment screen and set the Context (F3).
Select adjacent pieces of a split block.
