About Automatic Runcutting Parameters

Automatic Runcutting parameters are instructions to FX on how to cut and arrange segments of runs.

The parameters in the Automatic Runcutting Parameters dialog box are:

  • Shift Pieces: Enables the shifting of a run along a block to see if there is a cheaper solution.
  • Switch Pieces: Enables the switching of one piece of a run with a piece on another run.
  • Hook Pieces: Enables pieces to be hooked together to form runs.
  • Unhook Pieces: Enables runs to be taken apart. If not selected, you are not able to take apart a two-piece run to form two one-piece runs.

In the Improve process, the check box is not selected if you only want to switch pieces. After the Improve process, you will get the same number of runs as your runcut. If you select the check box, the system unhooks all pieces and creates more trippers.

  • Backup Runcut: Saves your run cut for backup purposes.
  • Triple Switch Pieces: Switches three pieces looking for a cheaper solution.
  • Shifting and Switching: Enables you to first shift a piece and then switch it as you look for a cheaper solution. This is especially useful for runcutting improvement.
  • Cut Blocks: Enables full and partial blocks to be cut at a relief.
  • Middle Shift Pieces: When Middle Shift is activated, the automatic runcutting shifts pieces from the middle of a block that has been cut into more than two pieces.
