Paraservice Area Rules

Certain service types permit travel only on specific days of the week, times of the day, and/or within specific areas.

Para Service Area Rules ancillary data allows you to define travel restrictions for each service type. The rules apply to all clients except those exempt from the paraservice area check.

If you use paraservice area rules, you must consider all permissible travel between polygons for the service type. The system does not allow any bookings outside of those times and areas defined for the selected service type.

Before defining rules, create all the polygons and common locations you need. The polygons available in this dialog box are determined by the polygon type you selected with the Para Service Area Polygon Type system property.

The Service Parameters Rules frame allows you to define whether certain options apply to bookings made using the Trapeze4 Workstation, or online (using PASS-Web). For bookings created via the web, a default booking subtype abbreviation and scheduling action can be defined.

ParaService Area Rules ancillary data is found under File > Ancillary Data > Para > Service Areas > Para Service Area Rules.

Field	Description
Paraservice	Service Type. Service types are defined in File > Ancillary Data > Para > Service > Paraservice Types.
Weekday	Days of the week the rule is in effect.
Description	Description of the paraservice area rule.
Client registered services	Client must be registered for at least one of the selected services in the client record (Task > Client Registration). Select an Applies to option (Workstation, Web, or both).
If fixed route exists	Action the system should take if a fixed route option exists for the client trip. N/A Do not call the fixed route system. Check Only Fixed route solution must exist for the trip booking to be eligible for service. Display Only Automatically show any fixed route options in the selected interfaces. Check & Display Fixed route solution must exist for the trip booking to be eligible for service and the fixed route solution is automatically shown in the selected interfaces. Select an Applies to option (Workstation, Web, or both).
Trip taken within the last # of days	The Origin and Destination of the trip must match a trip taken by the client in the past `X` number of days (scheduled, unscheduled, canceled, or no show trips). Typically, this option is only used for Web bookings. Select an Applies to option (Workstation, Web, or both).
Earliest trip booking request day offset	Earliest date a trip booking request can be made. For example, 0 = today, 1 = tomorrow. Select an Applies to option (Workstation, Web, or both).
Latest trip booking request day offset	Latest date a trip booking request can be made. For example, 4 = 4 days in the future. Select an Applies to option (Workstation, Web, or both).
Default Booking Subtype Abbr	Default subtype abbreviation to be used for bookings created from the Web.
Scheduling Action	Scheduling actions that can be taken from the Web: Unscheduled Booking is saved in an unscheduled state. Schedule System attempts to schedule the booking.
Polygon (From frame)	Origin polygon.
Location (From frame)	To restrict travel to start from a specific location, search for or type the name of the location. If there are multiple matches, click a location in the list.
Date (From frame)	Start date from when the rule is to take effect. If no date is entered, the rule is activated when you save the record.
Time (From frame)	Start time from when travel is permitted. The system will not schedule any pick-ups before this time. For example, starting from 8:00.
Reverse	If permitting travel to and from the specified locations/polygons between the To Time and From Time, select the Reverse check box. For example, travel is permitted from A to B from 8:00–14:00. These times will also appear in the Reverse time fields; thus, travel is also permitted from B to A from 8:00–14:00. You can overwrite the reverse times if required. For example, to permit only travel from A to B at 8:00–14:00 and return travel from B to A at 15:00–18:00, enter 15:00 and 18:00 in the Reverse time fields.
Polygon (To frame)	Destination polygon.
Location (To frame)	To restrict travel to end at a specific location, search for or type the name of the location. If there are multiple matches, click a location in the list.
Date (To frame)	Start date from when the rule is to take effect. If no date is entered, the rule is activated when you save the record.
Time (To frame)	End time to when travel is permitted (for example, ending at 8:00). The system will not schedule any pick-ups or drop-offs after this time.
Reverse time	If you are using the Reverse option, you can overwrite the automatically generated reverse times. For example, to permit only travel from A to B at 8:00–14:00 and return travel from B to A at 15:00–18:00, enter 15:00 and 18:00 in the Reverse time fields.
