OPS Master Divisions
OPS Master Divisions ancillary data define the divisions used by each agency. Divisions can only belong to one agency.
A division is a geographic or revenue area served by operators (full-time or part-time) and organized for administrative purposes. Small and medium-sized areas might have one division with one garage. Large areas might create divisions for different transportation modes or geographic areas. Each division belongs to only one agency.
If an area has more than one method of moving passengers (for example, buses, streetcars, subways, and light rail), a division can be created for each mode of transportation. In this case, divisions would operate separately, using their own lines, vehicles, and garages. For example, a division could consist of a ferry service.
Large areas with several garages might separate the total area served by their vehicles into a number of geographic zones. Typically, a garage services each zone.
Divisions data is used in many screens, including the Activate Day, Vehicle Assignment, and Daily Activity screens. Context settings for divisions are affected by users’ individual security rights for specific screens. For example, if a user doesn't have access to the West Division, West Division doesn't appear as an option in any related Context settings.
